In this participatory workshop, we will listen to, observe, analyze, and practice the sonic configurations and expressive gestures of Northwestern Argentine singing with percussion. After investigating the distinctive features of these gestures, we will explore how they resonate with our times and places, with our experiences as human beings, and how we can incorporate them into our musical, expressive, and poetic practices.

Presented by Christine Brebes and Nadia of the musical duo Flor del Aire from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Sponsored by the departments of music, Spanish, political science, and the American Studies program with support from the Office of Institutional Diversity and the Dean of Faculty’s office.

Free and open to the public. Note that no shoes, food, or drink are allowed in the workshop space.
