Culturally Relevant Teaching in STEM, co-sponsored with the Office for Institutional Diversity. In what ways do you connect your students’ culture to topics that you teach in STEM classes? Culturally relevant education is a theory educators are using to make their classrooms more equitable. Join us in exploring the ideas behind cultural relevance, how it has been applied in STEM classrooms, and collaborating around ways you could use cultural relevance in your own teaching. Facilitated by Jeff Spencer, a Chemistry doctoral student at the University of Michigan studying the design, implementation, and adaptation of culturally relevant teaching materials in the classroom. Please RSVP here.
