RESCHEDULED: Future Date TBD.
Please join us this Monday, February 27 from 12:00-1:00 in PAB 131 for an American Studies lunch: "What Is Environmental Humanities? A Conversation with Josh Howe (History and Environmental Studies) and Sarah Wagner-McCoy (English and Humanities)."
This will be an opportunity to learn more about how a range of humanistic disciplines can help us understand the practical and ethical demands of the urgent ecological crisis we are facing. In addition to discussing the cultural history of environmental thought as it related to American Studies, we will share updates about an exciting new Environmental Humanities initiative, generously supported by the Mellon Foundation, and about new courses exploring the power of narrative to promote social change by transforming our understanding of place and the needs of those who share it.
Vouchers for Commons will be provided beginning at 11:50; to give attendees time to get lunch, talks will begin at 12:10.
