This is a 2-part workshop in which participants will develop a collecting practice and create a visual memoir. Every person has a life worth highlighting and documenting!

The first workshop will introduce the project and provide information about personal archival practice. I will introduce the activities that participants will do for the following week. We will create journals together and go over the available equipment in the VRC (RISO, scanners, Photoshop, copy stand room, etc.). Participants are also welcome to use materials that they have already collected! Participants will have a one-week collecting period so that the workshop is accessible to those who don’t have a pre-existing collecting practice but want to create one!

At the second workshop, participants will create a visual memoir. I will provide some options, but participants are free to deviate if a particular form calls to them. Combinations of forms are also welcome! Some examples of projects that participants can create include zines, collages, or comics.

The Risograph and printer will be used to create multiple copies. If participants have digital photographs, they can also print these using the Risograph and printer. If participants have film, they can use scanners to digitize and print them.

Registration is required. Maximum number of attendees is 12. Please register at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc4eHp09mUGbwn8YpdkxGTexcAZPIZ3UUyHhCEotvax5pKHhQ/viewform
