Title IX Forum

Trump's Department of Education has proposed drastic changes to Title IX. They want to limit what is considered sexual harassment, mandate cross-examination by attorneys during hearings with no limits on the questions that can be asked, and make other changes that will force schools to handle sexual misconduct policy violation cases differently than all other types of policy violations. The changes will affect reporting--but will they reduce sexual harassment and assault on campus?

Jackie Sandmeyer of TIX Educational Specialists will tell us about the changes and help us understand their impact. Their presentation will be followed by mini-training on the Federal Register comment process and how to write an effective comment. The comment period ends 1/28/19, so it's critical to respond quickly.

The forum begins at 5:30pm in the Student Union. Advocates will be available. For more information about the forum, contact Rowan Frost at 503-517-7966 or frostr@reed.edu
