Siren Songs by Lindsay Partain. A performance thesis directed by Lily Olcott
Set in “a tree house on the edge of the world,” Siren Songs blends horror, tragedy, and hints of the supernatural. In a remote lighthouse haunted by ghosts and myths, two lighthouse keepers wrestle with sanity and mortality as they struggle to keep the light burning amidst extreme storms.
This show contains physical violence, illness, death, extreme isolation, hallucinations, and brief suicidal ideation.
The Maids by Jean Genet. A performance thesis directed by Dante Tirado Morales
Jean Genet's The Maids enacts an evening in the life of two maids in a 1940s Parisian apartment as they race against time to play-act the muder of their mistress. As their performance unfurls, both maids reckon with the sense of bone-deep hopelessness and comical absurdity of trying to exist under a nexus of capitalism and gendered scripts as the stories they tell to keep themselves grounded begin to crumble.
This show contains physical and verbal abuse and suicide.
