Join Nora Coronado, Director of the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) at the University of Washington to learn more about the free six–week academic enrichment program with a goal of increasing the number of students from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds who pursue careers in the health professions.
To be eligible for SHPEP, students must:
Be a high school graduate and currently enrolled as a freshman or sophomore in college.
Have a minimum overall college GPA of 2.5.
Be a U.S. citizen, a permanent resident, or an individual in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
Not have previously participated in SHPEP.
SHPEP at the University of Washington utilizes a range of teaching styles including lecture, active learning techniques, discussion groups, self-reflection and virtual hands-on activities to increase student engagement and learning. This year the program will be offered virtually. The UW SHPEP will take place June 21-July 30, 2021.
