Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) Info Session

Join Nora Coronado, Director of the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) at the University of Washington to learn more about the free six–week academic enrichment program with a goal of increasing the number of students from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds who pursue careers in the health professions.

To be eligible for SHPEP, students must:
Be a high school graduate and currently enrolled as a freshman or sophomore in college.
Have a minimum overall college GPA of 2.5.
Be a U.S. citizen, a permanent resident, or an individual in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
Not have previously participated in SHPEP.

SHPEP at the University of Washington utilizes a range of teaching styles including lecture, active learning techniques, discussion groups, self-reflection and virtual hands-on activities to increase student engagement and learning. This year the program will be offered virtually. The UW SHPEP will take place June 21-July 30, 2021. More information can be found at: SHPEP.org or by contacting Nora Coronado (ncorona@uw.edu).
