DESCRIPTION:Her talk will focus on the challenges of exhibiting artists who
se work is performative or ephemeral in nature\, and many times exists betw
een documentation\, object\, and oral histories. She will touch on a number
of exhibitions she has worked on\, in particular Michael Asher and Jack Sm
ith\, which required working with archives and estates to develop methodolo
gies for re-constituting site-responsive artworks outside of their original
context. Fruitful questions around ethics and value continue to arise whil
e thinking through possible retrospective frames.\n\nStella Cilman '16 is A
ssistant Curator at Artists Space in New York. She has worked on exhibition
s of artists such as Michael Asher\, Andy Robert\, Yasunao Tone\, Milford G
 raves\, New Red Order\, Art Club 2000\, Bill Gunn\, Adrienne Kennedy\, and
Jack Smith. Recent writing has been featured in publications such as May Re
vue and Topical Cream. She graduated from Reed College in 2016 with a degre
e in Art History.\n\nPhoto: Angele Balducci
