{CANCELED} Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History Behind-the-Scenes Tour

Join Advait Jukar ’11, Deep Time Peter Buck Postdoctoral Fellow at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, for a special Reedie tour of the new Deep Time Fossil Exhibition, followed by a guided behind-the-scenes tour of the vertebrate paleontology collections. A paleoecologist by training, Advait will take you on a 3.7 billion year journey through Deep Time where you will get to see the museum's new fossil halls, learn about ecosystem change through time, and our place in the story of life on Earth. The exhibition tour will take about 2 hours, following which Advait will take you behind the scenes and show you how the museum stores and preserved its fossil collections. You'll get a chance to get up close and personal with a T. rex and a couple of mammoths.

The meeting point for the tour will be 10:30 a.m. sharp at the Constitution Avenue entrance of the museum.

Only 12 spots are available for the behind-the-scenes tour. Reedies and their kids have priority for this segment. Only children age 12 and older may join the behind-the-scenes tour of fossil collections. All ages are welcome in the public galleries. Museum admission is free.

Please note the museum does not permit pets, e-cigarettes or selfie sticks.
