Reed Union: Community Responsibility in a Time of Climate Crisis

From the local to the global, we are all members of multiple communities within and beyond Reed. What are our responsibilities as community members in a time of climate crisis? How can Reed as an institution, and we as members within it, respond to this crisis?

Reed Unions seek to create a space for the entire Reed Community to spark dialogue, share perspectives, and encourage action. The Union will consist of three parts: presentations by a panel of speakers, small-group discussions, and Q&A. The panel will be composed of trustees, professors, staff, and students, and honored guests:

  • April Sams, Director of Risk Management and Environmental Health and Safety
  • Hayden Hendersen, Senior, Environmental Studies–Political Science; Student Sustainability Coordinator and Student Sustainability Committee Co-chair
  • Troy Cross, Professor of Philosophy and Humanities
  • Julia Adams ‘80, Professor, Sociology and International & Area Studies, Yale University; Trustee, Reed College
  • Carl Vance, former Chief Investment Officer for Lewis & Clark College

Staff, students, faculty, and alumni can engage in the forum. We welcome everyone to attend!
