Join the physics major alumni group (students and non-physics majors are welcome, too!) for a virtual meet-up during Paideia on Sunday, January 23 at 2pm PST/5 pm EST. We will hear from Tess Light ’91 and Terry Lash ’65 about their fascinating careers in nuclear security and safety.
Tess works in the Intelligence and Space Research division at Los Alamos National Laboratory, where she is the chief scientist for the Electromagnetic Pulse detection program within the US Nuclear Detonation Detection System (USNDS), a multi-agency program that detects and assesses nuclear detonations occurring anywhere on Earth, from the ground to space (learn more about Tess's career here).
Terry pursued graduate studies in molecular biophysics and biochemistry and worked for the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), The Keystone Center, the Scientists Institute for Public Information, and the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety. He was the Director of Nuclear Energy at the US Department of Energy (DOE).
We'll also have some time at the end of the event to introduce ourselves, socialize, and talk about our paths from Reed to the present. We look forward to seeing you there!
