POSTPONED: Reed on the Road in Washington, DC

This spring, we're taking Reed on the road!

At Reed on the Road in Washington, DC, you will

  • hear President Audrey Bilger reflect on her first nine months at Reed;
  • attend a condensed lecture from the Harlem module of Humanities 110 given by Professor Jan Mieszkowski, professor of German and humanities.

In a talk titled "Poetry, Race, and the Blues," Professor Mieszkowski will discuss some of the methodological and ideological challenges of teaching the poetry of the Harlem Renaissance in Hum 110. He will also invite the audience to read two short texts with him: Langston Hughes’s "The Weary Blues" and Gwendolyn Bennett's "Hatred."

To register for this event, please submit your RSVP by March 18.

Reed on the Road is a series of regional events designed for Reed alumni and parents. These events offer rich institutional and academic content delivered by campus leadership.

Following the CDC guidelines, Reed College discourages people who are not feeling well from attending events. The college also requests that people leave events if they begin to have symptoms of COVID-19, which include fever, cough, and shortness of breath, and seek medical advice.
