This spring, we're taking Reed on the road!

At Reed on the Road in Boston, you will

  • hear President Audrey Bilger reflect on her first nine months at Reed;
  • attend a condensed lecture from the Harlem module of Humanities 110 given by Pancho Savery, professor of English and humanities.

In a lecture titled "Perfect as Dusk," Professor Savery will discuss the first section of Jean Toomer's Cane, which features stories and poems depicting women in the rural black South. This talk will consider why these women are portrayed as closely connected to nature and whether this portrayal is a limitation or provides a sense of empowerment for the female protagonist. Optional reading: Cane (Jean Toomer, 1923), first section.

To register for the event, please submit your RSVP by March 19.

Reed on the Road is a series of regional events designed for Reed alumni and parents. These events offer rich institutional and academic content delivered by campus leadership.

Following the CDC guidelines, Reed College discourages people who are not feeling well from attending events. The college also requests that people leave events if they begin to have symptoms of COVID-19, which include fever, cough, and shortness of breath, and seek medical advice.
