Reed Arts Week is an annual, campus-wide celebration of the arts encompassing dance, music, and visual art. For 2023, RAW is proud to present Peripheral Forms

This year’s event will primarily take place on Thursday, May 4th from 1:00 - 11:00 p.m. It will include student performances and installations, a craft market with student vendors, a food truck, and an enigmatic site-specific time-based object manipulation performance spectacle. In addition to showcasing student artwork, we are bringing Portland-based artists Pepper Pepper and bart fitzgerald to perform and discuss their work.

Both political and aesthetic in its approach, Peripheral Forms is presenting a broad body of artistic practices from the edge of campus, to its center. We are proud to highlight dynamic student-created work that grapples with questions of equity, space, perception and the body, while centering artists and art mediums traditionally inhabiting the ‘periphery.’ RAW’s multidisciplinary approach elevates students’ diverse creative expression, encouraging interdepartmental collaboration between the arts on campus.

Visual artwork and installations from Gloria Herman, Yaya Brown, Amelia Moriarty, Nicole Diaz-Radlauer, Si Zheng Song, and Katie Caalaman. On view in the GCCs from May 4-6, 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Sound performances featuring Maya Foster-Wexler, Indigo Magana, Zonya Tanada, Naomi Smith, Liraz Brand, Powderfinger, Girl Idiot, and Motorways South. Dance performances by Sierra Kalua and Zonya Tanada.

This event will take place in-person and is free and open to the public. Image design by Ivy Harper.
