A staged reading by Anna Lodokhin.
From the playwright:
As a playwright, I strive to make art that begins a conversation. I’m interested in exploring themes of grief, pain, and the stories we tell to understand the world, and lately I have been looking at these issues through a political lens as well as an individual one. When working on these scenes from Mokosh in America: A Ukrainian-American Fantasia on Global Themes, I was inspired by Ukrainian folktales and pagan mythology and my ever-growing concerns about the climate crisis. By combining these seemingly disparate elements I try to explore the relationship between science and religions and make sense of how people maintain faith (in any sense) when hope is gone. As this is very much a work in progress, I welcome feedback and suggestions from the audience after the reading.
