Reed Arts Fest is proud to present artist Samantha Yun Wall as the featured speaker of this year’s Moonage Daydream festival. Originally from Seoul, South Korea, the artist immigrated to the United States as a child and comes from a multiracial background. Operating from within this framework, Wall’s drawings embody the experience of navigating transcultural identity. Wall’s unique approach to traditional drawing technique is combined with a contemporary vernacular that reflects her understanding of the world around her.
Samantha Yun Wall graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Visual Studies from Pacific Northwest College of Art. She is the recipient of awards and grants from organizations including: the Bonnie Bronson Fellowship Foundation; Oregon Arts Commission; Seattle Art Museum; and the Joan Mitchell Foundation. Her work has been exhibited widely, at museums including: the Portland Art Museum; Oregon Contemporary, Portland, OR; The Hallie Ford Museum of Art, Salem, OR; The Boise Art Museum, Boise, ID; the New Orleans Museum of Art, New Orleans, LA; and as part of the 6th International Fiber Art Fair, Hangaram Art Museum, Seoul Arts Center, Seoul, South Korea. Samantha Yun Wall is represented by Russo Lee Gallery, Portland OR. Reed proudly displays Wall’s Bonnie Bronson Collection work in the Kaul Auditorium foyer.
Free and open to the public.
