This will be a discussion group on how to assist migrants and other vulnerable people within communities, domestic and foreign, with their psychological issues. Unfortunately, according to the medical journal The Lancet, the WHO, and other sources, more than 90% of people in the world who should be receiving such assistance are not getting it. The Coalition for Work with Psychotrauma and Peace (CWWPP; www.cwwpp.org) has developed a methodology known as Pragmatic Empowerment Training (PET) which teaches people without previous training to become "barefoot therapists and peacebuilders" within their own communities. This also will be explored. Further, the primary issues facing beneficiaries and helpers, including burnout, will be discussed. There are possibilities for extending the group beyond Paideia. Led by Charles David Tauber, M.D.
