Join us for a private viewing and sale of original artwork from Pacific Northwest artist and Reed alumna, Shirley Georges Gittelsohn ’49 (1925–2015). Shirley and her late husband Ernie Bonyhadi ’48, bequeathed a large body of her artwork to Reed College. A portion of her collection is now available for sale to the Reed community for a limited time.

Please e-mail gittelsohnart@reed.edu to RSVP and receive address and directions to X Gallery. You may preview available pieces by visiting the online archive of the Gittelsohn collection at tinyurl.com/reedgittelsohn.

The College is partnering with Reedies, Zachary Hull ’95 and Martha Richards ’92, of X Gallery—provider of fine art holding and placement services in Portland—to make Shirley’s work available to the Reed community.

This is a special opportunity to view many of Shirley’s most representational works and add a piece from a celebrated local artist, and Reedie, to your own collection.

Continuing their tradition of philanthropy, Shirley and Ernie stipulated that proceeds from the sale of this work will support Reed students in their intellectual development, extending the college's long record of transformative undergraduate education.
