This month we’ll be talking about Call It Sleep, a 1934 novel by Henry Roth. The book is about a young boy growing up in the Jewish immigrant ghetto of New York's Lower East Side in the early 20th century. Good Reads gushes, “Call It Sleep is the magnificent story of David Schearl, the ‘dangerously imaginative’ child coming of age in the slums of New York.”
We are Reed alumni, spouses, and friends. We meet every month on the 2nd Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Pacific. July will be our first return to campus (Prexy) since the COVID-19 pandemic. We may allow virtual access as well, but haven't settled that yet.
Contact Bonnie (email@example.com) or Jeri (firstname.lastname@example.org) to be notified of the final details.
We will be meeting in the same location in Prexy on Tuesday, September 13 at 7:30pm to discuss our next book, In A Sunburned Country by Bill Bryson.
