One of the most important composers to ever live and work in the musical mecca that is Leipzig was, historically speaking, third choice. Both Georg Friedrich Telemann and Christoph Graupner turned down the prestigious post of Cantor of the St. Thomas Church before it was offered to and accepted by Johann Sebastian Bach. PBO’s season concludes with selections from Telemann and Graupner along-side instrumental interludes from Bach’s cantatas and work by Bach’s eldest son.
