Peace Corps Info Session

The Peace Corps send US citizens to over 60 countries that have requested help and work at a grass-roots level in local communities for 27 months. Volunteers receive transportation to and from the country, a monthly living stipend, vacation and health benefits and significant training.

After serving in the Peace Corps, volunteers receive a re-adjustment allowance of over $9,000, lifetime eligibility for over 200 graduate school fellowships and one year of non-competitive status for federal positions, but most importantly, they have received a life changing experience that develops leadership skills and opens doors professionally, personally and academically.

CLBR is excited to host a coffee chat with Peace Corps Recruiter Lisa Snell to talk to students about the opportunity, the application process, strategies and preparing to interview. Working with a recruiter typically increases acceptance rate by over 50%, as they are here to help you put your best foot forward throughout the process.

The Peace Corps has many job openings posted online for positions departing in April - Sept, 2020, and it's a great time to apply before the October 1 deadline. All students are welcome, though we highly encourage seniors to join, as there is an October 1 application deadline for seniors wanting a job after graduation.

Most people apply 9-12 months before they depart and applying early, flexibility, and considering featured positions, and working with a recruiter can really help you be more competitive. Upon RSVPing for the event, you will receive a confirmation message with many more links to information and resources that we encourage you to review to learn more about the Peace Corps.
