Have you ever wanted to learn how to handstand or pick locks and you tried but gave up after life got in the way? I truly believe this class will help achieve your goals in developing any skill you choose. Picking up skills is a skill in itself and I have spent countless hours over the past 8 or 9 years trying to figure it out. From yo-yo, to freestyling, to skating, to free-skating, to lock-picking, to sm64 speedrunning, I have practiced countless hours gaining competency in these areas and so so many more. All while developing a model to describe the act of skill building and the fundamental strategies for steady improvement. This isn't psych or neuroscience we will look at the basic concepts by which learning must happen and then slowly build a model to encapsulate the process and give direction to us going through the process. I am learning beatboxing over winter break and we will look at key strategies I employ. You should take this class if you want to pick up some skill, you want to learn how to beatbox, or if you just want to see what is kinda my life's work.
First day is basic mechanics for those who want quick tangible advice for anything. On the second day we talk about shortcomings of the model and learning itself. Last day is for entertaining more spiritual ideas and meta-questions about the model and skill building.
