Epicurus was an ancient greek philosopher who created his own school of philosophy based on the belief that one should seek out modest, sustainable pleasures, and eliminate pain and fear from their lives. He also believed people are best able to achieve this through a self-sufficient life surrounded by friends.(no required readings).
