About this Event
When performing a study with human subjects, what does it mean to protect their privacy? This course will go over historical failures to protect data subjects, culminating in the notion of differential privacy, a mathematically robust way to define privacy. We will then look at some features of the definition and some properties it enjoys, as well as a few simple ways to achieve it. There will be a bit of math, but no prior background is assumed.
