Participants will be introduced to the practice of using walking as an entry point for intentionality and mindfulness with an emphasis on the landscape of the college. Practices will include a standing meditation taking in the seven directions, a 100 step walking practice, and the application of lectio divina to moving through the natural spaces of the Reed Canyon. We will explore how our walking through a habitat influences its more than human inhabitants, their influences on us, and what it means to be mindful in those engagements. Class will begin and end indoors, but a majority of the time will be spent outside, walking. The class will be held regardless of the weather. The ability to walk outdoors on unpaved and uneven ground is important. People with mobility challenges may contact the instructor before signing up to discuss possible accommodations or adaptations. NOTE: Two sessions will be offered and each session is limited to 15 participants. Participants are asked to sign up for only one session and will receive a confirmation email from the instructor. Instructor: Gary Granger. Sign-up form: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSep...wV1aa77JWMgU96xmbzCxePc7uew/viewform
