A mostly experiential class, we'll use percussion to enter a trance state. We visit the 'lower world' first, and then the 'upper world' to find and meet out 'helping spirits'. It is often ecstatic and filled with energy. We form a circle, drum and make music to call in the spirits to facilitate our journeys. Please bring unplugged drums and instruments ; anything is better than nothing. For drums with skin heads please come early with a hairdryer to maintain tone. Comfortable clothes, blankets for sitting on the floor, rattles, notebook, and bandanas for eye coverings are encouraged. It will be fresh and fun. Instructor: Sandy Shore, he-him, '71, Ph.D.
