King Lear marks the story of the titular king of Britain, Lear (Myra Roberts), who, in his old age and declining mind, intends to divide his kingdom amongst his three daughters, Goneril (Melanie LeDrew), Regan (Moon Chow), and Cordelia (Molly Brownson). To decide how much each daughter receives, Lear asks them how much he loves him. While two of his daughters, the elder Goneril and Regan, exaggerate their love, the youngest Cordelia refuses to be insincere. Cordelia is disowned by Lear while Goneril and Regan inherit the kingdom and must contend themselves with Lear's bizzare demands and declining mental state. In the meantime, Edmund (Cal Olcott), the much maligned bastard son of the Earl of Gloucester (Joaquin Pellegrin-Alvarez), begins a plot of revenge against his brother Edgar (Sterling Kennedy) and his father, a close friend of Lear.

King Lear is the first production of the Reed Shakespeare Club, a group that aims to assist students in independent theatrical productions.
