 pire Reform Association between 1899 and 1911\, during his exile from China
  after the failed Hundred Days’ Reform of 1898.  Tracing his activities bet
 ween 1899 and 1911\, the global dimensions of this pioneering Chinese refor
 m movement will be highlighted with its impact on overseas Chinese communit
 ies\, including Portland\, one of the most active chapters of the reform as
 sociation.
