The Institutional Review Board (IRB) invites you to our Fall Info Session on Friday, September 27, at 2:30 p.m in Eliot 314. This is an opportunity for Reed students, faculty, and staff to learn about the IRB review process. We’ll cover the submission process, what kinds of research fall under what categories of review, online training on concepts like consent and privacy before conducting research, and precautions for data collection online and abroad. 

Aside from the handful of projects that require “full review” (those with higher risk), we accept applications on a rolling basis when classes are in session, and the review process normally takes 1-3 weeks. Please build this time into your plans for research. Also note that we are not permitted to retroactively approve a project, so please come well before you plan to start interacting with participants!
