Despite increasing public visibility, transgender people continue to face increasing threat and harm throughout the social sphere, including on college campuses. In this talk, Dr. Z Nicolazzo will draw on hir research with transgender college students to discuss how all members of college communities can work together to forward gender justice.
Dr. Z Nicolazzo is an assistant professor in the Adult and Higher Education program and a faculty associate for the Center for the Study of Women, Gender, and Sexuality, both at Northern Illinois University. Dr. Nicolazzo’s research focuses on gender in higher education, with particular emphasis on trans* college students. Hir first book is titled, Trans* In College: Transgender Students’ Strategies for Navigating Campus Life and the Institutional Politics of Inclusion.
