About this Event
Learn basic electronics design and construction skills and take home your very own DIY synthesizer! This class will begin with an overview of the current tools and resources available for designing your own electronic devices, from PCB design tool KiCAD and custom PCB fabrication to parts suppliers such as Mouser and Digi-Key. You will then learn basic soldering skills for DIY PCBs by constructing a simple synthesizer: the Atari Punk Console. This classic mousetrap-sized synth packs sonic punch far beyond its size and uses all of the basic component types of DIY electronics: resistors, capacitors, potentiometers, switch, jack, wires, and a socketed IC. No prior electronics knowledge is required. Led by Brandon Lewis.
