About this Event
Griffin Guide Study Break in Trillium 2nd floor Common Room on Friday, November 1, from 4:15-5:30pm. This is a great opportunity to get to know some members of the Reed faculty and our wonderful team of student Griffin Guides by joining us for some cider and sweets. Geared towards first and second year students, but all are welcome.
FAQ's:
Q: What's a Griffin Guide?
A: Griffin Guides are peer mentors who work closely with Reed faculty to support first- and second-year students with the transition to Reed College. You may have seen them during O-week wearing bright green T-shirts and offering help with class registration. Our twenty GG's have a wide range of academic majors and extracurricular interests, and are available to speak with you about their experiences or direct you towards appropriate resources. They are also just really great people, so come meet them at the study break!
Q: What's a Study Break?
A: A Study Break is a chance to take a break from work and grab a delicious snack with Griffin Guides, rotating faculty co-hosts from a range of departments, and other Reed students. It is a very informal gathering--just come hang out with members of the community and get to know your professors outside of the classroom.
Q: What should I bring?
A: Just yourself and, if you want cider, a reusable cup! There's no need to prepare, but if you have questions, this is a great chance to ask them. We'll have faculty from English, Humanities 110, Math, and (TBD), and we're always happy to speak with you.
