Introduction to Credit
Tuesday, September 12, 2023
“Introduction to Credit” is targeted towards students who are interested in learning how to build their credit. We will discuss the process of choosing a credit card, navigating and avoiding interest, and planning for debt repayment. No previous experience with any of this material will be required. Cheese board, assorted crackers and bread, almonds, cookies, fresh fruit, and beverages provided for your enjoyment.

Budgeting Crash Course

The “Budgeting Crash Course” is for students who want to learn to manage their money. We will discuss budget layout, the 50:30:20 rule for budgeting, how to plan for emergencies when you have a variable income and so much more. There will also be a budgeting demo, and after the workshop, templates will be provided to all participants. No previous experience with any of this material will be required.

Introduction to Investment

“Introduction to Investment” is geared towards students that are new or have limited experience with budgeting. The workshop will cover various types of investment (i.e. stocks, bonds, index and mutual funds) as well as how to open a brokerage account and make an investment plan. This workshop will also tie into the “Budgeting Crash Course” as we will discuss how to factor in investments into your monthly or biweekly budget. No previous experience with any of this material will be required.

Navigating Loan Repayment

Wondering how you’re going to pay back your student loans? Our workshop “Navigating Loan Repayment” is geared towards upper division students who are planning on paying back student loans after leaving Reed. We will go over the different types of loans and avenues for repayment, including deferment and Student Loan Forgiveness options. Students who are going to graduate and professional school are also invited as there will be discussion of loan options after undergraduate education is complete. No previous experience with this material will be required.
