Fight Dystopia, Demand Utopia

This is a panel on this history, structure, and goals of Demand Utopia, an international network of community organizers interested in the philosophy of Social Ecology. We are inspired by the Revolution in Rojava, an experiment in radical democracy currently taking place in an autonomous region of northern Syria, and will discuss some of the international solidarity work we have organized in support of Rojava. We are also part of an emerging continental federation of like minded community organizations called Symbiosis. One of the member groups of Symbiosis is Cooperation Jackson, who is doing some amazing work around building neighborhood assemblies and a locally controlled solidarity economy in Jackson, Mississippi. We will share some of their work, and our efforts to emulate them with our local chapter in Portland called Symbiosis PDX.
