For our second installment of Locally Sourced Sounds, we feature composers associated with the recent national visibility of new music from our region, considered by some to be a budding “Portland School” of composition. In addition to works by the renowned, award-winning Andy Akiho and Caroline Shaw, we present the Northwest premiere of the hauntingly beautiful clarinet quintet by Portland-born Ryan Francis.

The third concert of our Locally Sourced Sounds season celebrates the 80th birthday of Portland new music icon David Schiff with a performance of his seminal work Scenes from Adolescence. We conclude our season-long celebration of Locally Sourced Sounds with a meditation on what it means to be truly local.
