Before Indo-Europeans conquered Europe, townspeople across the continent were baking bread, making pottery and worshipping a Goddess. This class will introduce the culture of these “Old Europeans,” especially their worship and related views about birth, death, sex and gender. What did this mean for power dynamics and daily life? What does the suppression of these people and their beliefs have to do with Christianity and our own time? Let's discuss! Excerpts will be provided from The Living Goddesses (Marija Gimbutas) and When God Was a Woman (Merlin Stone).
Participants are encouraged to wear a mask during this class. Instructor: Eileen Hlavka
