D.C. Reedies Book Club: Ministry for the Future

Sunday, August 22, 2021 4:00pm

Add to calendar

Ministry for the Future is Kim Stanley Robinson’s latest book. It is speculative, or maybe only extrapolative, fiction about the impacts of climate change on weather, science, politics, and society. Robinson is best known for the Red Mars series, an epic of Martian colonization—his stories are deeply rooted in science and his characters represent a breadth of human attitudes and psychology.

Please join us to discuss this cathartic and thought-provoking story!

Read a recent interview with the New York Times, featuring Robinson (some small spoilers).

  • July 18 at 4–5 p.m. EDT—discussion of first half of the book
  • August 22 at 4–5 p.m. EDT—discussion of second half of the book

Book club meetings start with introductions, then a discussion of the book, and close with an invitation to share book and other reading recommendations.

Our next book will likely be Devil in the White City, for true crime fans!

RSVP: Register on Zoom
