Secure Multiparty Computation -
Modern cryptography has moved well past simply sending secret messages and can now enable all sorts of seemingly-impossible tasks.  The goal of this talk is to introduce secure computation, one of those seemingly magic tasks that is now possible.  It's a very general task - once you have secure computation, you can do everything from voting to auctions through online protocols without the need for any trusted entity to facilitate the computation.  In this talk I will explain what secure computation is and how we achieve it.  Along the way I'll introduce a number of the other sorts of tasks that modern cryptography enables.
