This is a two-day workshop in which participants will learn creative strategies for community-building & holding space for complex, generative conversations in a variety of contexts, including the classroom. It is open to NW5C faculty, staff, and students interested in expanding their approaches to teaching, collaboration and civic dialogue.
The workshop, led by members of Sojourn Theatre, explores civic imagination- the practice of bringing arts-based strategies into other disciplines and sectors such as liberal arts, health, education, equity/inclusion, housing and community development. Sojourn Theatre believes that Creative Practice engenders imaginative problem-solving, coalition-building and the capacity to collectively build visions for just futures. Sojourn creates artistic constructs to investigate these possibilities while offering specific practices to take away and utilize.
Sojourn Theatre has a 20+ year history of working in deep partnership with communities, municipalities, educational institutions, and other organizations to devise artistic works and experiences that help people grapple with complex questions.
