Continuing Research on the Fistfights of the Surrealists

LA-based artist Shana Lutker will present a talk with emphasis on her current body of work: The History of the Fistfights of the Surrealists. Lutker’s works in sculpture, installation, performance, and text are generated by her interest in the history of the unconscious, and the unconscious of history.

Works from the series have been commissioned and exhibited widely over the past five years, including Performa 13, the Whitney Biennial 2014; and solo exhibitions at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden and Smithsonian Institute in DC, the Pérez Art Museum Miami, Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich, Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects, 18th Street Arts Center in Santa Monica, and LAXART in Los Angeles.

Sponsored by the art department. Free and open to the public.
