In this class, I will demo the digital audio workspace Ableton Live. The first portion of the class will be spent showing students how to use the software; the second portion of the class will be spent working collaboratively as a group to compose a sound piece. This will involve students finding field recordings, live sounds, and electronic midi instruments to compose an element of the piece which we will then arrange together in Ableton. By the end of the class, students will have a better understanding of how to compose with Ableton, and they will have a completed song to prove it. It will be helpful for participants to bring laptops.
