About Cole: Cole Whitehurst is the Coordinator for the College to County Mentorship program. Cole grew up in Portland, Oregon. As a graduate from George Fox University, Cole is an Act Six scholar alumni and participated in the first cohort of the College to County Mentorship Program in 2011. His internship started in the Assessor’s Office(link is external) in the summer of 2011. Cole joined Multnomah County as an employee in 2012. Since then, he has participated in various leadership roles through appraisal, mentorship, equity committees, and the union. Cole is biracial and passionate about fostering intercultural relationships and enhancing opportunities for Multnomah County’s incoming workforce.
About Edman: Edman Wong is a first-generation Chinese-American and uses he/him pronouns. He enjoys reading non-fiction novels, spending time in nature, playing basketball, and expressing himself creatively. He discovered Multnomah County through the Portland State University (PSU) scholarship program "Empower(link is external)." It is a program run by PSU Multicultural Student Services that targets Asian and Pacific Islander students who are low-income, first-generation college students. They provide many services to help you succeed as a first-time college student. This will be the third year Edman has returned to working for the County. He will oversee outreach efforts in social media and communications for C2C. He is eager to keep working with us and this outstanding program.
About College to County: Going on our 12th year as a program, C2C provides college students from underrepresented communities with paid summer internships. Our program increases participants' understanding of career pathways at the county, with focused mentorship and professional development opportunities.
