About this Event
The class will provide a crash course on urban chicken keeping, as well as its past and current applications as a key component of certain urban agricultural systems. It will also examine the potential the practice has in combating local food insecurity and providing mindful alternatives to industrial agriculture. Finally, we will discuss the hypothetical of establishing a chicken coop/run at Reed to help determine its potential benefit and/or detriment to the community at large by evaluating the success of the practice in Portland (as well as the conditions under which it has occurred).
This class is a three-part series.
