A General Platform of the Synthesis of Antimalarial Isocyanoterpenes

Abstract: The combination of compelling structures and attractive biological activities motivates our group to engage in the total synthesis of complex, polycyclic natural products. In this lecture, I will discuss our work in the area of antimalarial isocyanoterpenes, focusing on our efforts to develop a general strategy to access several structurally different members of the family, with the goal of driving collaborative studies into their mechanism of action. In the course of this work, numerous examples of fascinating and unusual reactivity have been uncovered, which might have implications beyond the specific case at hand.
