Biological Systems are natural targets for modeling with deep learning approaches due to their massively parallel and inherently coupled nature. In this talk, I will explore how modern deep learning approaches, coupled with high throughput modalities can help us build truly predictive models of biological systems - focusing on cancer biology questions. I will also briefly discuss epistemological, social and ethical implications of these developments.
Dr. Emek Demir is a computational biologist who focuses on integrating rich, detailed pathway information and using the resulting "cell maps" to answer cancer biology problems.
