Let’s brunch at Agate Alley Bistro, then hang out and learn together at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art on University of Oregon’s campus!

We will meet at Agate Alley Bistro at 10am to hang out and enjoy brunch on a private heated patio ahead of our museum visit. It is a fifteen minute, half mile walk from the bistro to the museum. You will be responsible for your own food spending, but the museum admission and tour are on Reed!

JSMA's group tours are a treat and actively engage participants in visual thinking strategies to dive deeper into the art experience. We will plan to be at the museum by 12:45pm and then begin our tour at 1pm. This will all leave plenty of time for independent exploration before the museum closes at 5pm.

Here’s a bit about the current exhibition from the museum’s website:
Love, Desire, and Sorrow examines the notions of house, home, and the body to explore the factors and social entities that define them. [The exhibition] foregrounds the notion of home, broadly defined, to ponder the economic, social, cultural, and political structures, policies, and events that shape our current existence. Artists in the exhibition investigate colonialism, slavery, and the diaspora, evoking quilts or representing subjects under duress in situations where the home and body exist in a state of threat. [...] In sculptures, prints and textiles, artworks in the exhibition contest normative representations of home and body as the artists consider notions of belonging, justice, and healing.
Parking is free in the parking lot near to the museum on 14th & Alder (more accessibility information here).

We hope to see you then!

Sincerely,
Amanda ‘91 and Ashley ‘07
