He arrives in Recife during carnival week, hoping to reunite with his son, but soon discovers the city is as dangerous as the past he’s fleeing. This tense political thriller blends genre with incisive social critique, anchored by a masterful performance and direction. Celebrated in Cannes for its vision and power, THE SECRET AGENT brings us a deeply atmospheric journey through memory, resistance, and the personal toll of state violence.
