An introduction to documentary filmmaking. How to take an idea from pre-production to post-production. This production workshop will cover the fundamentals of cinematography (composition, exposure, lighting), sound recording, interview techniques, and an introduction to editing.
The three hour documentary production workshop will be organized into three sections:
1) Introduction and instruction: fundamentals of cameras, sound recorders, lighting, interview techniques.
2) Collaborative production: working in small groups within a short timeframe, film a portrait of a person or of a space, attentive to sound and light.
3) How to edit: organization of footage and audio recordings, setting oneself up for success, archiving projects, and thinking before cutting.
