The Institutional Review Board (IRB) invites you to our Fall Info Session on Friday, October 3, at 2:30 p.m. in Eliot 314. This is an opportunity for Reed students, faculty, and staff to learn about the IRB review process. The IRB is charged with reviewing all “human subjects research” conducted by Reed community members with human participants, including senior thesis projects. This could be anything from conducting a survey or interview through carrying out a lab experiment.

During this info session we’ll cover the submission process; what kinds of research fall under what categories of review; training on concepts like consent and privacy before conducting research; and precautions for data collection online and abroad.
