Lecture: Margaret Ng, “Healing Hands: A Study of Obstetrical Techniques from 12th to 16th century China”
4:30 p.m., Psychology 105
This talk explores an exceptional treatise that describes childbirth, complications, and hand techniques used by midwives. No similar work documenting such techniques was written prior to the 20th century. But more importantly, it was ubiquitous in medical works on childbirth up to the 20th century. Cosponsored by New Scholars Series in the Office for Institutional Diversity and the Chinese department.
